Back to the blog life :)

Dear friends,
Sorry for the long silence!
Now I am back and will try to announce all the paintings and events I've missed and be consistent in future :)

1. August 29, 2015 I too part in the White Rock en plein air painting competition! During the massive wind storm that hit the Lower Mainland on Saturday, 21 local artists were painting outside and that was a great challenge. After all, I'm the 1st place winner!!! SECOND time (first was in 2013)!

As the painting was covered with the dust, sand and insects, being painter during the storm, I've tried  to clean it out and refresh the paint and look what I got in the end :)

2. September-October 2015 I've organized four en plein air painting sessions for the Guild members in some of the most picturesque places of the City of Burnaby: Burnaby Mountain Park, Burnaby Central Park, Metrotown and Deer Lake Park.
here are my sketches...

3. September 19, 2015 Stiveston Grand Prix of Arts annual en plein air challenge. It was held under the heavy rain smoothly and comfortably. All the amazingly organized locations were equipped with the tents. Spots were picked by pooling number of the bowl. I was lucky! My spot was right in front of the fish market. Rainy day, fish boats, water what else I can dream about!? I was not a winner, but I got an amazing experience and sold my painting.

Fleeting Moment

I'm happy to represent you my new landscape that was based on the memorable trip to Montenegro.
I really try to express the fleeting moment of the daily life in the eternal life of the ancient town. These are the walls of the Old Budva.
Feel free to leave your comments:)

Opus Outdoor Painting Challenge 2015

Yesterday I've had a great chance to participate (second year) in Opus Outdoor Painting Challenge 2015 (more about the event http://opusartsupplies.com/opc ). Choosing Downtown location I was hoping for sunny day (it was amazing!) to paint my favorite red sun shades on the Maple Tree Square.
And here is the result of my one hour plein air work...

New old painting

Hi everyone,
Working on my artist's site I've realized that I completely forgot to post one beautiful Spring painting. I've painted it last Spring after visiting my friends house where the fascinating jasmine tree was in full blossom. I brought some branches home and next morning began to paint. Some of you saw the result on the Guild Fall Show...

In Anticipation of Spring again...

I finally gathered my recent paintings in a small collection "Anticipation of Spring". The plump flower buds on the rhododendrons, daffodils, tulips and crocus herald spring blooms to come. I overwhelmed  with inspiration to paint flowers to celebrate Nature  awakening.
This music is inspiring too my feeling of Spring

Feel free to post your comments :)

Grand Prix of Art

September the 20th I've participated in the annual art contest. Over 100 artists competed in this  competition. Paintings were exhibited at Britannia Heritage Shipyard, Richmond, BC
Even though I'm not a winner I've got a very unforgettable plein air experience. I'm very proud to announce that my guild mate's James Koll painting placed third overall
My painting was sold during the Art Show of the contest paintings.

Going to participate in the annual art contest in Richmond I went to Deep Cove - my favorite place to refresh my plein air skills and figure out what canvas size would be affordable for me for 3hour painting next week in Stevenson. This sketch was made in 2hours.

New life of the old painting

This cityscape was painted a year ago. It based on some sketches and pictures that were made during my walk to Gastown last Summer. Year after I finally (as it always happened!) figured out what did I miss in it - some puddles with the reflections!!! So, I need a new title for it...
What do you think?

And again my favourite pomegranates!

This painting looks close to the previous one I've made last year due to the same cloth that was used as a background. I like this color the most to emphasize red flam of the pomegranates.

Late Spring Plein Air

In the end of May I went again to enjoy plein air work as well as hot tab at the St.Agnes Well Hot Springs. I can honestly say that this is the most spectacular backcountry road I've ever had. This time it was very windy to paint (I can hardly hold my easel on its legs!), but I've made one finished painting and couple more sketches that still need some touch ups. I'll add them later.

One more my achievement!

Granville Bridge. Plein-air sketch
SOLD

739 artists of all ages challenged themselves to capture the beauty of nature, urban life, and their imaginations in the 3rd Annual Opus Outdoor Painting Challenge, held at six Opus locations across BC on Saturday, May 10th, 2014.

My oil sketch is the second prize winner!

I choose Granville Island location where over 300 participants came to paint that day. Gloomy weather turned beautiful sunny day in an hour after beginning. Thus, I was very glad to add some light bright accents to reflect that changes. That was a great expiriance and fun!

Also, the watercolor by James Koll my colleague from the Burnaby Artists Guild placed second at the Downtown location.
